The density of aluminum sheets is typically around 2.70 g/cm³ (2700 kg/m³), which is the standard density value of pure aluminum at room temperature. Because aluminum is a lightweight metal, aluminum sheets are significantly lighter than traditional metals like steel for the same volume.

 

In practical applications, aluminum sheets are often found in the form of aluminum alloys. Different alloy compositions will affect the density. The density of common aluminum alloys generally fluctuates between 2.63 and 2.85 g/cm³. For example, adding elements such as copper, magnesium, and zinc enhances the material's properties and slightly alters the density, but the overall lightweight characteristics are maintained.

 

This lower density gives aluminum sheets a significant advantage in lightweight design, effectively reducing structural weight and lowering transportation and installation costs. This characteristic is particularly important in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, and building curtain walls, improving energy efficiency and enhancing the overall economics and practicality of the structure.
