Carbon steel sheets can be classified into the following categories according to different standards:
By carbon content
Low carbon steel (C≤0.25%): such as SPCC (cold-rolled sheet), commonly used for stamping parts.
Medium carbon steel (0.25%
High carbon steel (C>0.6%): such as T8 tool steel, suitable for high-hardness cutting tools.
By manufacturing process
Hot-rolled sheet: surface has oxide scale, thickness is usually 1.2-200 mm (refer to ASTM A36).
Cold-rolled sheet: smooth surface, high thickness accuracy (0.2-5 mm), used for precision instruments.
By application: Structural steel (such as Q345), pressure vessel steel (such as Q245R), automotive steel (such as B340LA), etc.
